What to Wear and How to Pose for Business Portraits?
You Don’t Need to Know How to Pose
“I’m not good in front of the camera” is something I hear often. Usually, it means the person has been asked to hold a pose that never felt natural in the first place.
You don’t need to arrive at a portrait session knowing what to do with your hands or how to angle your face. Guiding you is part of my work.
We might begin with something simple: sitting down, walking across the room, turning towards the light, or talking for a few minutes. I watch how you move when you’re at ease. Then I give you small, clear directions so that we can build a photograph without making you feel like someone else.
There will be pauses. A good portrait session is a collaboration, not a test of how well you can perform for a camera.
If you feel nervous before your personal brand photoshoot, you are in good company. You can bring that feeling with you. We’ll start where you are.
What to Wear for a Personal Brand Photoshoot
The best outfit for a personal brand photoshoot isn’t necessarily the most impressive one in your wardrobe. It’s the one that helps the photograph feel like you.
Start with the work you do and the people you want to reach. Where will these images appear? What would you feel comfortable wearing when meeting those people in real life?
I usually suggest bringing a few choices with different purposes. One may feel right for a formal introduction. Another may show a softer or more creative side. You don’t need an entirely new wardrobe; familiar pieces often work beautifully when they fit well and let you move.
Pay attention to how you feel in each outfit. If you spend the session adjusting a collar or worrying about a skirt, that discomfort may show in your expression. Comfort doesn’t mean casual. It means you have enough ease to be present.
We can discuss clothing before the session and make choices that suit the setting, the light, and your visual identity. You bring the clothes. Together, we decide what each look needs to say.
